Junior Entomologist Summer Day Camp: Explore, Discover, Create! 🐞🦋🦗
Throughout this action-packed camp, your child will:
🌿 Explore the World of Insects: Through fun and interactive lessons, I will introduce your young scientist to the amazing diversity of insects. They'll discover the unique features and behaviors of bugs from various orders, including beetles, butterflies, cicadas, and more!
🔬 Learn to Identify and Classify: Campers will practice identifying insects, learn how to classify them and understand the role they play in ecosystems—whether it’s pollination, decomposition, or as a food source for other creatures.
🎨 Create Insect Art: Kids will have the opportunity to unleash their creativity by making unique insect-inspired art, from coloring pages made by yours truly, to painting projects— my goal is to combine science with creativity!
🔍 Hands-on Insect Hunts: Armed with nets, jars, and bug-friendly tools (no insects will be harmed in this function), your kids will embark on outdoor adventures to catch and study insects firsthand. Each day will feature a bug hunt focused on finding insects from each of the 8 major orders, where kids can observe and document their findings, classifying the insects into their specified order based on what we learn together.
But that's not all—this camp is extra special because all proceeds will go toward funding the education of an environmental entomology scientist (me!) who is dedicated to researching the abilities of insects, and studying their role in preserving ours and our planet’s health. By letting your kids join in the fun, you will not only foster their passion for learning and love for nature, —you’ll also be helping me achieve my educational goals and dreams.
